Hi, I'm Eilidh Simmons.
I am a professional photographer specialising in equine and canine photography based in West Lothian, Scotland.
I launched Ruthven Photography back in 2023, and since that point I have had the pleasure of working with some incredible people and their animals, and covering some of the country’s most prestigious equine competitions. You’ll frequently find me at The Scottish National Equestrian Centre, as well as working with other equestrian venues, clubs, and breed societies.
Alongside my own work, I also freelance for some of Scotland’s leading equine photographers, such as Sinclair Photography, Ewan Noble Photography and HKF Photography. If that wasn’t enough to keep me busy, I am also a full-time student in my final year of BSC Equine Science and Management – safe to say I’ve always got plenty going on! In any free time, you’ll most likely find me spending time with my loan pony, Saffy, or hiking up a hill somewhere.
Getting into photography for me was a way to capture the beauty of our animal friends, and to immortalise the special connection we have with them. Through my photoshoots, I aim to create a relaxed environment whilst still capturing the best shots possible of you and your four-legged friend. My entire life has always been centred around my animals, meaning that I understand just how important having the perfect photo of them to treasure is.
